Background of the Study

Economic diversification is a key strategy for reducing dependence on oil and fostering sustainable growth in various regions. In Jalingo LGA, Taraba State, the local government has increasingly focused on developing industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and services to reduce unemployment and mitigate political tensions (Dogo & Usman, 2023). Economic diversification has the potential to reduce political volatility by providing more economic opportunities, thus improving political stability. This study explores the role of economic diversification in reducing political tensions and enhancing local governance in Jalingo LGA.
